What's your favorite snow sport?

If you had to choose- which one would you go with?  Downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing or cross country skiing?  We all have our personal preferences-- but is it based on what we're used to, what comes easiest to us, or other reasons?

For those of us who aren't keen on the idea of struggling to learn a new sport, snowshoeing is a good choice.  All it takes is a pair of snowshoes and you can be off in no time.  Though downhill skiing and snowboarding take a few lessons to get comfortable, after that there's nothing like the thrill of gliding down the snow.  Cross country skiing is another great choice, especially for physical fitness.

So, what's your favorite snow sport?  What sport would you like to learn next winter?

Last Year's Learn a Snow Sport Month

January 2009 was the first annual Learn a Snow Sport Month at ski resorts, nordic centers, and state and national parks all over the U.S. Resorts in 23 states offered special packages for those looking to learn to alpine ski or snowboard. On January 10, 2009, 80 resorts across the country hosted free events to learn to snowshoe or cross country ski.

Those who already participate in snow sports were encouraged to do their friends a huge favor and bring them along! We think that introducing friends to a fun, feel good winter sport is one of the best gifts you can give them. Plus, there's nothing better than seeing your super-competitive friend fall over ten times in one day on the bunny slope.
